2013 No.1 Grenache Dubstyle
The Wine Front - Review by Mike Bennie
A second range from Inkwell wines has emerged – Dub Style. It’s a journey outside of the estate vineyard. This comes from a vineyard on which the vines date back 80-or-so years. Bounce. Base. Treble. Volume. says the label. Got it.
A good support for the adage that grenache from McLaren Vale is merely warm climate pinot noir, if you get the gist. It’s highly perfumed, crammed with red cherries, cranberry sour-sweetness, gentle herbal wafts and some peppery spice. Light, juicy, pure and silky in texture. Sweetness of fruit rides high but acidity, cool and natural feeling, keeps the wine fresher and friskier than expected. Finishes mouthwatering. Lovely, mellow drink.
