The wine front - review by gary walsh

Made by Dudley Brown (and I ALWAYS want to say Moore, or Do-Right) and Dr Irina Santiago-Brown, of Inkwell fame. Made with no additions from non-estate fruit. I’ve not tried many, but so far, so good! This is Shiraz and Grenache, with an echo of Lamoresca Rosso in the mix (but don’t mind me).

It’s a little funky and unfettered in a positive way, has a shake of spice and aromatic herbs, juicy blueberry and raspberry fruit, with maybe a little liquorice. Medium bodied, savoury, spicy and fleshy in flavour, with a slaty tannin feel, lovely unobtrusive acidity, and a run of grainy tannin on saline/earthy/fruit sweet finish of satisfying length. This is bang on. What a delicious, unforced wine it is, and at a keen price too. Love it.
