The most special time of the year at Inkwell is when we pick and ferment the Black and Blue at the end of each vintage. This vintage fortified wine was matured in small, reconditioned 100 year-old fortified barrels for two years. 800 bottles made. 375ml each. Sold in 2 x bottles sets.

Tasting note: From the “more is more” school of wine. If the 2020 Black and Blue were cake it would be a plum, Christmas and chocolate cake rolled into one and served in a cedar cigar box. Finishes with a wicked streak of fresh acidity balancing and stretching the finish out for an endless finish. Isa Bal, head sommelier at Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck, has called this one of Australia’s “most unique wines”.
